History

Byakko

Shibuya Hikawa Jinja is an ancient shrine said to have been founded during the Keichō era and has been cherished as the tutelary deity of Shibuya. Enshrining Susanoo no Mikoto as its principal deity, it is revered as a god of warding off misfortune and blessing good relationships. During the Edo period, it served as the ujigami of Shibuya Village, supporting the lives of villagers. In modern times, as Shibuya has become increasingly urbanized, the serene precincts of the shrine offer a precious place of respite where visitors can forget the hustle and bustle of the city.
