History

Byakko

Niiukawa Kamikami Jinja is enshrined deep in the mountains of Kawakami Village in Yoshino District and serves as the main shrine of the water deity. Among the three shrines, it is situated in the deepest mountain recesses and has long been revered by the imperial court as a place of pure water sources. It is believed to be a sacred site where the dragon deity resides, and has played the most important role in prayers for rain. The sacred precinct, surrounded by deep mountains, is filled with a mystical atmosphere and continues to support people's lives as the source of water's blessings. The pure air and the sound of water purify the heart, making it a truly exceptional sacred place.
