History
Kanuma Imamiya Jinja is situated in Imamiya-cho, Kanuma, and as its name suggests, it is a shrine founded in a relatively recent period. It has walked alongside the development of Kanuma, a town that prospered through woodworking, as the guardian deity of the region. The name Imamiya carries the meaning of "new shrine," and this shrine has adapted to changes in the times while remaining close to the hearts of local people. True to the spirit of a woodworking town, many craftspeople come to pray for improvement in their skills and commercial prosperity, making this a shrine that demonstrates a modern form of faith.
