History
Muryouji is an ancient temple located on the beautiful Nishiura Peninsula overlooking Mikawa Bay in Gamagori. Situated in a place of stunning views of Mikawa Bay, it has long gathered the faith of fishermen praying for safe seas and bountiful catches. Particularly devoted to faith in Kannon, it is known as a compassionate temple that accepts not only the wishes of those connected to the sea but also the broader prayers of common people. From the temple grounds, one can gaze upon the beautiful expanse of Mikawa Bay, experiencing a refreshing feeling as if one's heart has been cleansed. It is affectionately known among local residents as "Nishiura's Kannon."
