History

Moto Ishiyamizu Hachiman-gu is enshrined in Ikoma City and has deep connections to Kyoto's Ishiyamizu Hachiman-gu. As the name "Moto Ishiyamizu" suggests, it has been revered as the original or closely related Hachiman deity to Ishiyamizu Hachiman-gu. The Hachiman deity is known as the guardian of the Minamoto clan and the god of military fortune, and here too it has gathered the faith of many warriors and common people. From its location in Ikoma, this venerable shrine has watched over the traffic junction connecting Yamato and Yamashiro, continuously praying for the safety and prosperity of the people.
