History

Byakko

Nagai's Inari Jinja has long been beloved by local people as a shrine dedicated to the deity of business prosperity and bountiful harvests. Through the divine virtue of Inari Daimyōjin, it receives particularly devoted worship from those engaged in commerce and agriculture. Nagai developed as a prosperous commercial city through river transport on the Mogami River, and this Inari Jinja played an important role as the guardian deity of merchants. The distinctive vermillion torii gates are striking, and upon entering the grounds, one can sense the warm divine protection of Inari. As the deity of commerce, it is visited by many worshippers who pray for success and prosperity in their enterprises.
