History

Byakko

A venerable temple with a history spanning the Edo period, this is a rare sacred place where five hundred Rakan statues are enshrined. Rakan are enlightened sages, and the sight of stone statues lined up, each with different expressions and postures, is truly awe-inspiring. Since relocating to Meguro, it has been cherished as a renowned temple visited by many pilgrims. Among the five hundred Rakan statues, it is said that one can always find a face resembling a deceased loved one, and the temple has served as spiritual support for those mourning the departed. The grounds are enveloped in silence, and visitors can offer prayers in peace, watched over by the compassionate gaze of the Rakan.
