Ganyuuji

Situated in Oarai Town, Ibaraki Prefecture, Gannyu-ji is an independent temple affiliated with the Otani branch of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism, preserving the teachings of original Pure Land Buddhism. This ancient temple has been a spiritual refuge for local communities over the centuries. Though the precise date of its founding remains unclear, the lamp of Jodo Shinshu tradition has been passed down here unbroken, with the sound of nenbutsu recitation continuing to this day.
