History
This Washikosanjo Shrine is famous for having the largest owl statue in Japan. Since owls can also be read as 'fukurou' (meaning no suffering), it is believed to have benefits of good luck and warding off evil. It is located at the summit of the mountain, offering a splendid view. People praying for business prosperity and family safety entrust their wishes to this large owl and come to worship. Its appearance gives courage and hope to visitors.
