Ryuzenji Temple, formally known as Komeisan Muryojuin, is an ancient temple of the Tendai sect located in Toride City, Ibaraki Prefecture. As the name Muryoju — boundless life — suggests, faith has long been rooted here in the infinite life and compassion of Amitabha Buddha, praying for the peaceful passage of souls to the Pure Land. The temple is also said to be blessed by the protection of a dragon, drawing many visitors praying for protection from water disasters and a good harvest. The Tendai Dharma lamp continues to shine in its tranquil precincts.
