Takahatsu Fudōson Kongōji is an ancient temple of the Shingon Chisan school enshrined in Takahatsu, Hino. Formally known as Kongōji, it is known as one of the three great Fudō of Kantō, enshrining Fudō Myōō as its principal image. Founded during the Heian period, it is also famous as the bodhi temple of Hijikata Toshizō of the Shinsen-gumi. The grounds are graced with beautiful flowers in each season, and the Ajisai Matsuri is particularly renowned. Cherished since ancient times as 'O-Fudōsan,' it remains one of the foremost sacred sites in Kantō, attracting many pilgrims to this day.
