History

Horaku-ji is an ancient temple of the Shingon sect located in a residential area of Higashi-Sumiyoshi Ward. Known affectionately as Tanabe Fudo, it is renowned for the spiritual efficacy of Fudo Myoo. On the 28th of each month, the temple is crowded with many visitors, enveloped in the solemn atmosphere of rising incense smoke from sacred fire rituals. Having long served as spiritual support for local people, it continues to gather deep faith as a warm and nurturing sacred place. The quiet atmosphere of this temple grounds brings me great peace of mind.
