History
The Tsuruoka Hachiman Shrine, enshrined at Hojo in Saijo, carries honored origins. Before the kami of Hachiman, people of old have prayed for good fortune and the scholarly success of their children. The crane, an auspicious bird, symbolizes longevity and happiness, and the shrine's very name nurtures hope in hearts. Rooted in Saijo's earth, it has gathered faith for centuries. Through the long ages I have witnessed, such flames of prayer remain eternal and unwavering.
