History

Byakko

Suwa Jinja is enshrined in Suwa Kawara, Toyama. It was invited from Suwa Taisha in Shinano Province and enshrines Takeminakata no Kami. Suwa worship has long been observed as the kami of martial valor and agriculture, and is particularly revered as the deity who governs wind and water. Toyama is blessed with clear water from the Tateyama mountain range and wind from the Japan Sea, so it is natural that the kami of Suwa protects this land. For the people of the community, it has remained a cherished local kami, honored for bringing abundant harvests and family safety.
