History

Kōsan-ji is an ancient Tendai temple located in Tokoname, Aichi, at the foot of Mt. Ontake. It serves as the 12th temple of the Chita Saikoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage and the 61st temple of the Chita Shikoku Pilgrimage. Generations of pilgrims have made their way to this sacred site, offering prayers along the mountain paths. The accumulated merit of practice and pilgrimage naturally purifies the hearts of visitors and illuminates the path toward enlightenment.
