This Tenchian (Kuboyama Engakuji) is a historic Rinzai Zen temple said to have been opened in the Kamakura period. It is said to have been founded by Zen Master Mugaku Sogen, who is also said to be the founder of Engakuji, and has long gathered the faith of people. The precincts are rich in greenery and enveloped in a tranquil atmosphere. In particular, the Shaka Nyorai statue enshrined in the main hall has a serene expression that soothes the hearts of visitors. It is said to grant wishes such as family safety, good luck and warding off evil, and academic achievement, and many people still visit to offer prayers. Prayers unchanged since ancient times still live on in this land. Its quiet and calm atmosphere is its charm.
