History

Byakko

Shioune Kannon-ji is an ancient temple of the Shingon school nestled in the mountains of Ōme. With a history of over 1,300 years, it has saved many people through the compassionate power of Kannon. It is particularly famous for its beautiful azaleas blooming in spring, and it is said the name "Shioune" (salt boat) comes from the scenery that resembles being aboard a flower-filled ship. Surrounded by beautiful nature throughout the four seasons, it is a sacred place visited by many pilgrims seeking peace of mind.
