History

Byakko

This Inari shrine in Sumida, Tokyo, has long gathered the faith of merchants and farmers alike, renowned for its blessings of business prosperity and abundant harvest. Since the Tensho era (1532–1555), it is said that traders and cultivators visited to pray for commercial success and rich yields. The divine virtue of Uka-no-Mitama-no-Mikoto — the deity of grain and commerce — is believed to bring good results to those who strive. Today visitors still come seeking improved fortunes and business success, and the clean air of the precincts clears the heart of all who enter.
