History

Byakko

Hisai Hachimangu, located in Hisai Ninomachi, Tsu City, Mie Prefecture, was known as Nobeno Shrine (Nobeno-jinja) until 2020. The principal deity is Emperor Ojin (Homutawake-no-Mikoto), revered as a god of military prowess and national protection. The main hall follows the shinmei-zukuri architectural style, with a graceful karahafu-style porch. According to tradition, the shrine was founded in the early Edo period by Fujido Takatsu, the first lord of the Hisai Domain, who enshrined this deity to protect his domain. The shrine has quietly watched over the Hisai region ever since.
