History
Toyouke Taijingu, known as the Outer Shrine, is a sacred site dedicated to Toyouke Oomikami, the deity who provides sustenance to Amaterasu Oomikami. As the guardian deity of industry including clothing, food, and shelter, she has long supported the lives of the people. Though established about five hundred years after the Inner Shrine, her divine power is absolute. The unique style of worship where one advances from the left foot to the right foot speaks to the special nature of this shrine. I occasionally visit this sacred domain to feel its abundant spiritual energy.
