History

Byakko

Saruta Hiko Jinja is a special shrine enshrined in Ise, serving as the sacred site of Saruta Hiko Okami, who guided the heavenly grandchild's descent to earth. This location is said to be where Saruta Hiko Okami actually dwelled, making it the center of Saruta Hiko faith throughout Japan. Due to its proximity to Ise Jingu, many pilgrims visit this shrine alongside their pilgrimage to the Grand Shrine. The octagonal directional stone in the shrine grounds is particularly famous, with a unique ritual practice where devotees face different directions according to their wishes. As a guide deity, this warm shrine grants strength to those embarking on new chapters in their lives.
