History

Byakko

Standing south of the thirty-three bay hall, Yougenin represents the compassionate manifestation of the thousand-armed Kannon. Rebuilt from wartime destruction by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, it became a memorial temple honoring the samurai class. The blood-stained ceiling boards silently testify to battles past, while Kannon's eternal blessing continues to fulfill the prayers of countless devoted souls.
