History

Byakko

Hakusan-miya is a shrine located atop a small hill about 78 meters above sea level in northern Nissin City, Aichi Prefecture. While the exact founding date is unknown, the presence of a round burial mound from the late Kofun period within the precincts suggests its origins extend to ancient times. The oldest surviving record dates to 1504 (Eisho 1). Dedicated primarily to Kukurihime-no-mikoto, the shrine is well known for its divine blessings of safe childbirth and matchmaking. It is the only shrine in Nissin City with a resident priest, and remains deeply revered by the local community. The No. 1 burial mound of Hakusan has been designated a cultural property of Nissin City.
