History

Byakko

Known affectionately as Meguro Fudo, it is one of the oldest Fudo sacred sites in the Kanto region. As one of the precincts, it has long been renowned as a place of miraculous spiritual efficacy for warding off misfortune and bringing good fortune through the divine light of Fudo Myoo. During the Edo period, it was visited by the third shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu and became beloved by the common people as "Meguro's Fudo-san." Within the grounds flows the Dokko Waterfall, whose clear waters purify the heart. The blazing flames of Fudo Myoo burn away earthly desires and bring true peace to all who visit. It is truly one of Tokyo's most celebrated sacred places.
