Saihou-in, located in Taishi-cho, Osaka Prefecture, is an ancient temple of the Jodo sect believed to be the first nunnery founded in Japan. Its mountain name is Nankomzan and its temple name is Houraku-ji. The principal image is Amida Nyorai, while the Kannon Hall, enshrining the Juichimen Kannon, serves as the 8th site of the New Saigoku 33 Pilgrimage. Through the ages, those chanting Nembutsu here have sought rebirth in the Pure Land.
