Kogen-ji (Komagometaikanoto)

Kogenji Temple, known popularly as the Komagome Daikannon, is a Jodo-shu Buddhist temple located in Mukogaoka, Bunkyo, Tokyo. The temple relocated to its current site during the Kanbun era of the early Edo period. A colossal Kannon statue, standing approximately 5.5 meters tall, was erected on the temple grounds and became an object of deep popular veneration among Edo townspeople. The principal image is the Sho Kanzeon Bosatsu. The temple continues to preserve its traditional crest and historical heritage.
