History
In Higashiura of the Chita Peninsula stands Shōkōsan Kaiiji, a temple I have long observed and protected with care. As the name Kaiiji suggests—the seal of the sea—this temple connects deeply with the ocean's power, receiving the prayers of all who make their living from the sea. Rooted in the Morioka region, it has been faithfully preserved by generations of devoted priests. It brings the blessing of the sea and receives the prayers of those seeking safe voyage, who receive Buddha's divine protection. Though bearing ancient heritage, this temple's blessings remain unchanging in modern times, forever answering the prayers of those bound to the sea.
