Taiheizan Mikichi Jinja Sohongu is located at the foot of Taiheizan mountain in Akita city and serves as the main shrine of all Mikichi shrines throughout Japan. It enshrines Mikichi Reishin, a deity unique to Akita, whose virtues are powerful and particularly beneficial for competitive endeavors and overcoming difficulties. Every January 17th, the Bomten Offering Festival features the spectacular presentation of brave bomten carried with the shout of 'Joya-sa, Joya-sa.' This shrine symbolizes the masculine character of Akita and grants people the strength to face life's hardships and an indomitable spirit.
