Ikoma-Yamaguchi Jinja is enshrined in Ippon-cho, Ikoma City, and has long been worshipped as a shrine guarding the entrance to Mount Ikoma. Mount Ikoma is a sacred mountain rising on the border between Nara and Osaka, and this shrine has played an important role enshrining the mountain deity. As the name "Yamaguchi" (mountain entrance) suggests, it has served as a guardian of the mountain entrance, a place where climbers and those working in the mountains pray for safety. Furthermore, it has been beloved by local people who express gratitude for the abundant natural blessings of the Ikoma mountain range and pray for abundant harvests and family safety. One can feel the powerful divine protection of the mountain deity at this shrine.
