Izumi Jinja in Komae City has long been venerated as a deity of agriculture in the fertile lands of the Tamagawa River basin. The shrine name "Izumi" is also read as "izumi," which is said to represent the blessings of pure water, and it has served as a source of spiritual support for local residents grateful for the blessings of water and earth. During the Edo period, it was cherished as the tutelary shrine of Komae Village, with people offering prayers for abundant harvests and household safety.
