History

Byakko

Sagae Jinja is enshrined at the center of Sagae City and has long been cherished as the tutelary shrine of this region. Blessed by the clear flow of the Sagae River and situated on fertile soil, it has been revered as a deity governing the blessings of water and bountiful harvests. In particular, since Sagae City became widely known throughout Japan as "The Land of Cherries," many farmers have visited to pray for abundant fruit harvests. This area, also a vital point of the Mogami River boat transportation route, attracts strong devotion from those praying for traffic safety and business prosperity. With cherry blossoms blooming beautifully throughout the shrine grounds in spring, Sagae Jinja continues to be beloved by many people year-round as a spiritual home for Sagae City residents.
