History
Kamo Wakeikatsu Jinja is enshrined in Nikko Yamauchi, a sacred place, a powerful shrine dedicated to the thunder deity. Kamo Wakeikatsu Okami is the same deity as at the Kamigamo Jinja in Kyoto, and has long been venerated as a god who governs thunder and the blessings of rain. Developing in connection with mountain worship in this area near Nikko Toshogu, it expels evil spirits with the power of the thunder deity and brings blessed rain. It attracts devoted worship not only from those in agriculture but also from those wishing to overcome hardship.
