History
The name Ashio derives from ancient faith, rooted in protection of the feet. Deep in the mountains, travelers and climbers would pray here for safe passage. This fox has stayed to light the path for those walking long roads, offering brief respite among Tochigi's harsh and beautiful wilderness.
