History
Genkuro Inari Jinja is an Inari shrine situated in Ogawa-cho, Nara. The name "Genkuro" has a fascinating origin connected to Sato Tadanobu, a retainer of Minamoto no Yoshitsune. The shrine is said to have been established based on the legend that Tadanobu, while being pursued with Yoshitsune on Mount Yoshino, transformed into a white fox to protect his lord. As a symbol of loyalty and wisdom, and also possessing the blessings of business prosperity as an Inari deity, it is a most intriguing shrine. Located in the heart of Nara's city, it is a shrine that allows visitors to feel both historical romance and the depth of faith, leaving a lasting impression on those who visit.
