Yoshikawa Hachiman Shrine in Toyono-chō, Osaka, enshrines Homuda-wake-no-mikoto (Emperor Ōjin), the Hachiman deity. According to tradition, Minamoto no Yoriyoshi founded the shrine in 1053 (Tengi 1) as an offering of gratitude for victory in his Ōshū campaign. Formerly ranked as a gōsha, it serves as the tutelary deity for seven districts in the Yoshikawa area, and has long protected the community.
