History

Byakko

Ryukoji, built at Ryuoka in Imabari, is an ancient temple with the dragon as its symbol. Surrounded by mountains in Tamakawa-cho, it has been a place of prayer honoring the dragon kami who guards pure waters. Those who traveled between the islands sought the dragon's protection here and prayed to be kept safe from water's perils. With the many crossing points of the Seto Inland Sea, it shares a deep history. By all an old fox knows, this place still breathes with the dragon's spirit.
