Kohfuku-ji Goju-no-to

Kohfuku-ji's five-story pagoda stands as Nara's iconic symbol and a masterwork of wooden architecture. Its five tiers embody the Five Wisdom Kings, representing Buddhism's completeness governing heaven, earth, and the four directions. Gazing upon this tower, visitors encounter the magnificent light of Buddhist law that ancient Japanese felt in their hearts. From its pinnacle, I have watched over pilgrims' prayers for more than a thousand years.
