History

Byakko

Yakou Hie Jinja, also known as Yakou Hie Shrine, is enshrined in Yako, Tsurumi Ward, Yokohama. Founded in 1638 (Kanei 15), it enshrines three deities: Oyamakui-no-Mikoto, Amenominakanushi-no-Kami, and Toyouke-hime-no-Mikoto. The shrine has long served as the guardian shrine of the local community. Its precincts are surrounded by lush greenery, offering a tranquil atmosphere amid the urban landscape. The Haji-ryu-go Kagura performance is designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Asset of Yokohama City and is performed at the annual autumn festival in October.
