Nagara Jinja is an ancient shrine in Nagara, Gose City, Nara Prefecture. Listed in the Engishiki as a shikinaisha and formerly ranked as a village shrine, it is also affectionately known as the Hime no Miya (Princess Shrine). The Katsuragi region was a key area in ancient Yamato, where many powerful clans played important roles. The place name Nagara carries a history extending from antiquity, and this shrine has walked alongside it throughout the centuries. Deeply entwined with the lives of the local community, it has long been revered as the guardian deity of Nagara.
