It is renowned as the bodaiji (ancestral memorial temple) of Odai-no-kata, the birth mother of Tokugawa Ieyasu. After her separation from Matsudaira Hirotada, Odai-no-kata spent her later years in this region, and her spirit is said to reside here still. The temple serves as the 15th sacred site on the Chita Shikoku Pilgrimage and the 6th on the Owari 33 Kannon Pilgrimage, drawing devoted visitors across the region.
