History

Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of approximately 30,000 Inari shrines throughout Japan, boasting a history of over 1,300 years. It enshrines Inari Okami and is revered nationwide as the deity of commercial prosperity and abundant harvests. Most notably famous for the breathtaking sight of thousands of vermillion torii gates covering the entire mountain. The succession of crimson torii along the approach is truly mystical and awe-inspiring. Since the Edo period, it has been venerated by common people, and today attracts many international visitors, making it known worldwide as a representative shrine of Kyoto.
