History
Arao Kawagami Jinja is a shrine that has walked together with the flow of the Arao River. It enshrines a kami presiding over the blessings of the river and the purifying power of water, and has long been cherished by the local people as the "River Kami." Surrounded by the beautiful nature of Iwadeyama, this shrine is said to purify the hearts of visitors, just as clear flowing water cleanses. In this land blessed by the water system of the Naruse River, it has been valued as a place where prayers are offered with gratitude for water and nature.
