Takekoma Jinja is renowned throughout the nation as one of Japan's three great Inari shrines and is a shrine of distinguished origin. It is said to have been founded during the Heian period, and there is a historical record of receiving devoted faith from the imperial court during the Showa era. As the place name Inari-cho indicates, this entire area developed as a center of Inari faith. Revered as a kami governing bountiful harvests and prosperous commerce, it has been worshipped as a guardian deity of a wide range of industries from agriculture to commerce, and has earned the unwavering trust of merchants and farmers in particular. Every year, many worshippers visit to pray for the prosperity of their businesses, making it one of the foremost Inari shrines in the Tohoku region.
