Osaki Hachimangu is a prestigious shrine founded in Keichō 12 by Daimyo Masamune Date, the founder of the Sendai clan. It enshrines Emperor Ōjin, Empress Jingū, and Emperor Chūai, and is revered as a deity of military prowess and victory. The brilliantly ornate main hall, designated as a National Treasure, is renowned as a masterpiece of Momoyama architectural style. Each year on January 14th, the Donto Festival features a massive bonfire where New Year decorations are burned, drawing large crowds.
