History

Byakko

Nagata Jinja is an ancient shrine enshrined in Nagata, Kobe, with Kotoshironushi no Kami as its primary deity. It has been widely worshipped as the god of commerce, and has been affectionately known as "Nagata's Ebisu-san" among merchants throughout the Kansai region. Though it suffered significant damage during the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, the shrine achieved remarkable reconstruction through the strong solidarity of the local community. From this experience, it is now revered as a symbol of overcoming adversity and restoration. During the annual Toka Ebisu festival, it draws many worshippers and is filled with the fervent prayers of those seeking commercial prosperity.
