History
Torin-in is a Koyasan Shingon Buddhist temple located in Otani, Oma-cho, Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture. Its mountain name is Hachiyozan, and its temple name is Jinguji. The principal objects of worship are Yakushi Nyorai (Medicine Buddha) and Aizen Myo-o. The temple is widely known as the inner sanctuary of the first temple in the Shikoku Eighty-eight Temple Pilgrimage and as the first temple in the New Shikoku Mandala Pilgrimage. Also called 'Tanemaki Kobo Daishi,' it holds a deep connection with Kobo Daishi Kukai. Its sacred verse sings of seeds sown and ears of rice ripening abundantly through the Daishi's grace, blessings that continue to bring spiritual fruition to all who visit.
