History
Tōkō-ji is an ancient temple that stands quietly in the town of Hagi. As a temple with ties to the Mōri clan, it has long served as a spiritual support for the people of this region. Enveloped in the verdant surroundings of Tsubaki Higashi, it displays beautiful sights with each passing season. Throughout the temple grounds are scattered stone monuments and structures that speak to history, conveying the cultural value of Hagi to the present day. Many worshippers visit this place, which has a serene atmosphere and serves as a place where people seek peace of mind—truly a hidden gem of Hagi.
