History

Byakko

Karasuomori Jinja, enshrined in the business district of Shimbashi, is said to have been founded in the Heian period. As its name suggests, it derives from the forest that once existed in this area where crows would gather in great numbers. During the Edo period it became beloved as "Karasuomori Inari" and particularly attracted the faith of merchants. Today, it continues to be cherished as a protective deity of the city, with salarymen working in Shimbashi visiting to pay their respects during their busy days. It is also famous for its colorful omamori and ema.
