History
An ancient shrine enshrined on Mitsumine Mountain, the spiritual peak of Chichibu. It is said to have originated when Yamato Takeru offered prayers to the gods of mountains and rivers during his eastern campaign. Later, En no Gyoja established it as a training ground for Shugendo, and Kobo Daishi is said to have also practiced asceticism here, making it a sacred site of mountain worship with miraculous spiritual power. It is known for revering wolves as divine messengers and the 'Oinu-sama' faith that protects from thieves and disasters. During the Edo period, numerous pilgrims from the Kanto region visited, with the shrine particularly receiving the faith of merchants and gamblers. From the shrine hall at an altitude of 1,100 meters above the clouds, a magnificent view overlooking the Kanto Plain spreads before one.
