Yoshioka Hachimangu Shrine serves as the tutelary deity of Yoshioka, the commercial and transportation hub of Yamato-cho, Kurokawa-gun, Miyagi Prefecture. Founded in 1618 (Genna 4), the shrine enshrines Ojin Emperor, revered for courage and agricultural protection. The shrine is famous for the Shimada Ame Festival, a traditional event from the Edo period in which auspicious candy symbolizing marriage bonds is distributed to visitors. The original main hall, built in the ishinoma-zukuri style, was designated an important cultural property of Miyagi Prefecture before its destruction by fire.
